OUR STORY

Chef Benjie started working in restaurants at 15 as a dishwasher, worked his way into food prep and eventually earned a culinary degree from St. Philip's College. He worked many corporate jobs, including a position with Sodexo, where he would work 10 days at a time, traveling throughout the country.

Things changed when his wife took him to a movie called Chef. After the movie, his wife turned to him and said, “You need to do that. Your son is going to be a high school senior, and you need to be around for that.”

Chef Benjie cashed out one of his 401Ks and opened a food truck with unique menu items. People think running a food truck is easy and cool and glamorous, but he was hustling and working hard. Benjie’s Munch Truck opened in April 2015, and that led to the brick-and-mortar restaurant opening in October 2017.

Everything that Chef Benjie creates is cooked from the heart. “I make it the way I would want to eat it, every bite should be the best bite.” He creates the unique flavors and textures, even selecting a local baker to bake fresh bread for his sandwiches and features. Chef Benjie likes to call the restaurant’s style the New American Global Comfort Food. His mission is to make food you have grown up loving even better than how you remember it- no matter where you are from!

Chef Benjie is constantly coming up with new menu items to showcase produce that’s in season and bring you comfort food from across the globe. Benjie’s Munch uses the best seasonal produce to create a fabulous menu of comfort food favorites.
